Richard W. Lensis, President of Lensis Builders Inc., is a certified LEED Green Associate with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), a member of EarthCraft House of Virginia, and an Energy Star Partner. Lensis Builders is now offering Home Energy Audits, complete with a detailed report that will reliably identify energy waste in your home. Your report will also include an accurate cost proposal for the work required to implement the recommended fixes. Our goal with your Home Energy Audit is to help you take the first step toward making your home as comfortable, energy efficient, and healthy as possible.
Our RESNET certified Energy Auditor’s comprehensive analysis of your home’s energy use includes:
- Thermal Imaging Analysis: A high-tech infrared camera is used to identify many hidden forms of air leakage and poor insulation. These are most often the biggest causes of energy waste for heating and cooling systems. These images will be providded in your detailed report.
- Blower Door Test: The Energy Star program and other certified programs require this test to identify potential improvements to your home. We use a powerful fan to pull the air out of your house, lowering the air pressure inside; the higher outside air pressure then flows in through all the unsealed openings and cracks. Used with the infrared camera, otherwise undetectable air infiltration is identified.
- Heating and Cooling System Testing: We have the necessary equipment for heating and cooling system testing to include-
- Duct work leakage testing
- Static pressure testing
- Air flow testing and diagnostics
- Visual Inspection and Home Occupant Interview: We will perform an examination of your mechanical systems (to include your HVAC system), your appliances, and conduct a through interview you to help identify problem areas in the home.
- Detailed Report of All Findings: Let’s face it, after you find out what areas of your home need improvement, you want to take steps to fix it. This is why we not only include a detailed of our findings with your audit, but a list of recommended fixes and our estimate to perform the work. This report may also include some quick fixes you can do yourself. And remember, there are many tax rebates and incentives available for more extensive improvements.
